The PC Engines APU4D2 is an upgrade over the previous generation APU boards, featuring the same powerful 1GHz quad core CPU with 4 Gigabit Intel NICs all on the same 6 x 6" board.
The APU boards have a whole host of applications including but not limited to; A dedicated Router/firewall (pfSense), VOIP service, dedicated servers, special purpose network plumbing and even education tools. The possibilities are endless.
The APU4D2 is a conductive cooling device, it requires a metallic enclosure to cool sufficiently via the included 3mm aluminium heat spreader. You can find details on how to apply this here.
