Driven by a quad-core ARM® Cortex-A55 processor running at 1.7 GHz and paired with 4 GB of memory, this device supports two 3.5″ hard drives housed in a shared tray design. You can connect it to your network via a 2.5 GbE RJ-45 interface that also delivers PoE++ power, eliminating the need for a separate power supply when paired with a compatible switch. An included 60 W PoE++ injector offers alternative power when needed.

A subtle 1.47″ color display on the front provides real-time status information at a glance, while the rear offers a USB-C (5 Gbps) port for attaching external storage expansion. The system is designed to be power efficient: it allocates up to 52 W for the drives, with a total maximum consumption capped at about 60 W.

Software-wise, the UNAS 2 runs UniFi OS and is managed via the UniFi Drive application, providing features like snapshots, scheduled backups, and user-based shared storage over SMB or NFS protocols. Because the hardware is designed with simplicity in mind, it does not support hot-swapping of drives; the dual-bay tray must be removed in full to service disks. RAID 1 is the supported configuration for redundancy, and if two drives of different capacities are used, the usable storage will be limited to the capacity of the smaller drive.
