The SG2005P-PD is a rugged 5-port Gigabit Smart Switch designed to simplify outdoor network deployments by combining PoE-powered operation with intelligent PoE passthrough capabilities. Engineered for demanding environments such as CCTV installations, outdoor wireless networks, industrial sites and remote network locations, it delivers reliable Gigabit connectivity while eliminating the need for a dedicated local power source. Its compact design and weather-resistant construction make it an ideal solution for extending networks where conventional power infrastructure is unavailable or impractical.
The switch features one Gigabit PoE++ input port that receives both power and data from an upstream PoE source, along with four Gigabit PoE+ output ports capable of powering connected devices such as wireless access points, IP cameras and VoIP equipment. Depending on the incoming PoE standard, the SG2005P-PD supports a total PoE budget of up to 64W, allowing multiple powered devices to be deployed from a single network connection while significantly reducing installation costs and cable requirements.
Designed specifically for outdoor installations, the SG2005P-PD is housed within a durable IP55-rated weatherproof enclosure that protects against rain, dust and prolonged UV exposure. Integrated lightning protection, a wide operating temperature range and a fanless design ensure dependable performance in challenging environmental conditions, making it well suited to year-round operation in exposed locations. Flexible wall and pole mounting options further simplify installation, allowing the switch to be positioned wherever reliable network connectivity is required.
With support for PoE passthrough over distances of up to 200 metres without sacrificing Gigabit network speeds, the SG2005P-PD is particularly effective for long-range deployments where cameras or wireless access points need to be installed well beyond the standard Ethernet distance. Intelligent Layer 2 management features including VLAN support, Quality of Service (QoS), Access Control Lists (ACL) and static routing provide greater control over network traffic, helping to improve security, optimise performance and ensure critical applications receive priority across the network.
As part of the TP-Link Omada Software Defined Networking platform, the SG2005P-PD integrates seamlessly with Omada controllers for centralised cloud management. Administrators can remotely configure devices, monitor network health and manage multiple sites through a single interface, reducing maintenance time while improving visibility across the entire network. Combining outdoor durability, flexible PoE deployment and enterprise-grade management, the SG2005P-PD provides a practical and scalable networking solution for organisations looking to extend reliable connectivity into challenging environments.
*The actual transmission distance may vary due to the power consumption of PoE-powered devices or the cable quality and type.
**PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing. The actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors.
